Job Overview:
A well-established law firm is seeking a skilled attorney with experience in land use and real estate development law. The successful candidate will support a high-volume and dynamic practice handling a wide array of real estate development projects, including those with regional and statewide importance. This role involves navigating municipal approval processes, advising on environmental regulatory compliance, and potentially contributing to transactional matters. The position offers hybrid flexibility and the opportunity to collaborate with a large, multidisciplinary legal team.

Location:

  • Albany, NY

Duties:

  • Assist clients in securing municipal land-use approvals for development projects

  • Advise on federal and state environmental regulations including SEQRA, wetlands, stormwater, endangered species, and related issues

  • Support clients through the regulatory process for real estate development matters

  • Contribute to legal strategy for complex development initiatives

  • Work closely with attorneys across multiple practice areas to deliver comprehensive legal support

  • Potential involvement in real estate transactional matters (a plus, not required)

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in land-use and/or real estate development law

  • Experience working with SEQRA and other environmental regulations relevant to development

  • Proven ability to interact with municipal entities and regulatory agencies

  • Admission to practice law in the State of New York

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Licensed and in good standing with the New York State Bar

Skills:

  • Strong legal research and writing capabilities

  • Familiarity with environmental and land-use regulations

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively

  • Strong client communication and advocacy skills

  • Collaborative mindset with a willingness to engage across practice areas
