Job Overview: A law firm seeks a dedicated associate attorney to join its Greensboro, North Carolina office. This position offers an exciting opportunity for those interested in criminal, traffic, and family law practice, particularly in District Court trial work. The ideal candidate will be eager to advocate for clients' rights, work in a fast-paced environment, and receive mentorship from experienced partners. Those with prior experience as a Public Defender or Assistant District Attorney, as well as bilingual candidates (English/Spanish), are especially encouraged to apply.

Duties:

  • Meet with clients to provide legal counsel and guidance on their legal matters.
  • Manage all aspects of discovery, including gathering evidence and formulating case positions.
  • Develop legal briefs, strategies, and arguments in preparation for case presentation.
  • Attend and prepare for motions, hearings, and trials.
  • Conduct legal research and draft memoranda, motions, and other trial-related documents.
  • Interview clients, witnesses, and other parties to gather relevant case information.
  • Interpret and explain laws, regulations, and rulings to clients.
  • Draft and file legal documents in a timely and organized manner.
  • Work closely with supervising attorneys to develop case strategies and trial tactics.

Requirements:

  • Admitted to and an active member of the North Carolina State Bar.
  • Up to five years of legal experience, with preference for candidates in family, civil litigation, criminal, and/or traffic law.
  • Newly licensed attorneys may apply.
  • Strong ability to speak confidently in court and think quickly on your feet.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to simplify complex legal concepts.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail, capable of managing multiple cases in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to manage and delegate work to staff efficiently.
  • Motivated to build a client base and contribute to firm marketing efforts.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active North Carolina Bar License.

Skills:

  • Strong legal research and analytical skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with Mac OS.
  • Comfortable with technology, including troubleshooting and managing legal software.
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) candidates are preferred due to the firm's client base.
