A law firm in Sacramento, CA, is seeking a skilled and experienced Probate Attorney to join their team. The ideal candidate will have substantial experience in probate law, including wills, trusts, and estate litigation, and be prepared to handle a diverse range of responsibilities. The attorney will be expected to provide exceptional client service, manage a caseload effectively, and contribute to the firm’s success through diligent work and strong legal expertise.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Meet with clients to provide legal advice and guidance on probate matters.
  • Draft pleadings, motions, and other legal documents.
  • Administer depositions and participate in the discovery process by propounding and responding to discovery requests.
  • Conduct thorough legal research to support case strategies.
  • Write and argue motions, and make court appearances as necessary.
  • Participate in trials, including interviewing witnesses and presenting evidence.
  • Draft agreements and negotiate settlements on behalf of clients.
  • Attend mediations and arbitrations to resolve disputes.
  • Handle family law cases as needed and perform other activities as requested by the partners.

Requirements:

  • Must be a licensed attorney in California.
  • 6-16 years of experience as a licensed attorney, with a minimum of 5 years focused on probate, wills, trust, and estate litigation.
  • Excellent academic credentials from an accredited law school.
  • Strong work ethic with a high level of reliability and professionalism.
  • Exemplary client service skills with prompt response levels at all times.
  • Desire and willingness to make court appearances, argue motions, and participate in hearings.
  • Detail-oriented with strong drafting, negotiating, and communication skills, capable of conveying legal subject matter to non-attorneys.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with sound business judgment and strategic legal thinking.
  • Ability to manage workflow independently to meet firm deadlines and achieve business and risk management objectives.
  • Courtroom experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of the Code of Civil Procedure.
