Job Overview

A law firm seeks an Intellectual Property Associate with expertise in patent prosecution to join its team in New York, Philadelphia, Kansas City, or St. Louis. The role involves working with a diverse clientele on patent applications, patentability opinions, and patent estate management. The ideal candidate will have experience in software, computer science, electrical, or mechanical fields.

Duties

• Handle strategic aspects of multiple legal matters from inception to conclusion.
• Communicate effectively with attorneys and clients.
• Work independently and productively in advancing a career in Intellectual Property law.
• Produce quality legal work and meet billing requirements.
• Manage and generate business through group and individual efforts.
• Comply with the highest ethical standards of the legal profession.

Requirements

• 4+ years' experience as a licensed attorney at a law firm.
• Experience in preparation and prosecution of U.S. and international patent applications.
• Ability to utilize support staff or junior associates effectively.

Education

• Juris Doctor
• Bachelor's or higher in Electrical, Computer or Mechanical Engineering, or Computer Science preferred.

Certifications

• Licensed to practice law in good standing in one or more jurisdictions.
• Registered to practice before the USPTO.
