Phoenix office of a BCG Attorney Search Top Ranked Law Firm seeks an associate general counsel with 4+ years of litigation or equivalent experience. The candidate will report primarily to the General Counsel. Will provide legal advice and counsel to attorneys, to staff, and to administrative departments regarding compliance with state and federal law and regulations, ethics requirements, firm policies and guidelines, and best practices. Support the Chief Operating Officer and the Executive Committee in the performance of their duties and in achieving firm goals. Work with and support others in the Office of General Counsel, including Conflicts Counsel and the firm's Information Privacy and Protection Officer, and interact with the firm's information technology group on security issues. Manage litigation and outside counsel. Respond to subpoenas, motions to disqualify/sanctions, ethics complaints, minor litigation, and other pleadings served upon the firm and/or its attorneys. Work with attorneys and staff to timely resolve legal, ethical, and loss prevention issues. Create policies, procedures, and guidelines, and assist in developing best practices. Support Human Resources on employment-related issues. Research as needed. Interact with, and support the initiatives of, the firm's professional liability carrier. Review firm contracts. Remain current on professional growth and development, and trends in loss prevention/risk reduction. Must be admitted to practice, or willing to apply to be admitted to practice, in one or more of the following jurisdictions: Arizona, California, Colorado, Nevada, or Utah.
The candidate must have a law degree or equivalent from an ABA-accredited law school. Knowledge of employment law, ethics, document management, and/or privacy laws is helpful. Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills are required. The ability to learn new areas of law and legal concepts quickly is needed. Must be well-versed in research/document management tools. Excellent analytical abilities are essential.
