A law firm seeks a dedicated and motivated Litigation Associate Attorney to join its growing team in Charlotte, NC. This full-time position offers the opportunity to work on a diverse range of civil litigation matters, with a focus on trial work and litigation defense. The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of experience in litigation and a strong passion for advocacy. This role provides opportunities to handle cases independently, argue motions, write legal briefs, and participate in depositions, all while gaining specialized experience in various areas of law.

Duties

  • Represent clients in a variety of civil litigation matters, including but not limited to construction litigation, employment law, business litigation, and personal injury
  • Draft legal documents such as motions, briefs, and discovery responses
  • Conduct depositions, interviews, and witness preparation for trial
  • Assist in managing and evaluating assigned cases, working both independently and as part of a team
  • Participate in hearings, mediations, and trials as needed
  • Provide legal counsel and case evaluations, assisting clients in navigating legal challenges
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys on case strategies and resolution approaches
  • Continuously develop knowledge and expertise in assigned areas of litigation

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in civil litigation
  • Strong writing and legal research skills with meticulous attention to detail
  • Proficiency in drafting legal documents and managing case files
  • Ability to handle a variety of litigation cases, including complex matters
  • Licensed to practice law in North Carolina or South Carolina, or eligible for admission based on existing UBE score
  • Experience in one or more of the following practice areas is a plus: construction litigation, government and municipal defense, employment law, insurance coverage, premises liability, professional malpractice, and personal injury
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative in case management

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications

  • Active state bar license in North Carolina or South Carolina, or eligibility for admission based on UBE score

Skills

  • Strong legal writing, research, and analysis skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple cases and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
