Job Overview:

A distinguished law firm is seeking a skilled Trusts and Estates Attorney to join its team. This role is ideal for an attorney with a background in estate planning, trust administration, and probate matters. The firm is looking for an individual who is passionate about providing high-quality legal services in a collaborative and client-focused environment.

Duties:

  • Advise clients on estate planning, including wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and healthcare directives.
  • Draft, review, and finalize estate planning documents customized to client needs.
  • Manage probate and estate administration, including informal accountings, estate distributions, and Surrogate’s Court proceedings.
  • Build and maintain relationships with clients, offering ongoing legal advice and support.
  • Collaborate with colleagues on complex trusts and estate issues.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the New York State Bar and in good standing.
  • 3-8 years of experience in trusts and estates law preferred.
  • Strong drafting, research, and analytical skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and client management abilities.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to handle multiple cases simultaneously.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the New York State Bar.

Skills:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to draft legal documents, including wills, trusts, and advanced directives.
  • Expertise in estate and trust administration, including fiduciary accounting.
  • Knowledge of Surrogate’s Court procedures in New York State (preferred).
  • Exceptional organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team.
