Chemistry Patent Agent

Minneapolis office of a BCG Attorney Search Top Ranked Law Firm seeks a chemistry patent agent with experience. The candidate will support and Assist with drafting and prosecuting patent applications in chemistry and chemical engineering fields. Will coordinate and correspond with foreign law firms and associates to file foreign patent applications. Maintain client portfolio and provide client with estimates of costs for future filings and maintenance. Coordinate and review results of patentability, landscape, and freedom-to-operate searches. Assist in the Firm's standardized procedures to enhance malpractice prevention. Prepare and send notices to clients regarding upcoming deadlines. Correspond with foreign law firms regarding filings, deadlines and billings. Anticipate supervising partner or client needs for specific projects. Delegate effectively and as appropriate with Paralegals or Legal Administrative Assistants. Design, recommend, and implement new processes and procedures to increase group efficiency. Special projects, as needed. Meet billable hour requirement of 1750 per year. Performs other duties as assigned. Candidates with a Bachelor's degree, higher degree, or equivalent in chemistry or chemical engineering or related degree and/or work experience are encouraged to apply. Counsel clients about the types of patent protection available and the circumstances under which each type of patent application is appropriate. Patent & Trademark Office registration (or ability to qualify) is required. The law firm or in-house IP experience is preferred.

A team player who motivates and educates other team members is needed. Regular and predictable attendance is essential.
