Associate Attorney with 2-5 years of litigation experience

A law firm in Sacramento, CA, specializing in labor and employment law, is seeking an Associate Attorney with 2-5 years of litigation experience. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in employment litigation, including wage and hour/PAGA experience if possible. The role involves handling discovery, preparing motions, conducting and defending depositions, and supporting partners in pretrial work. The successful candidate will work in a collaborative environment, mentored by top labor and employment attorneys, and will provide research, counseling, and advice to employer clients on various employment issues.

Duties:

• Handle discovery processes, including document review and production.
• Prepare and file motions, including drafting briefs and supporting documents.
• Conduct and defend depositions, and manage deposition preparation and follow-up.
• Conduct interviews and gather relevant information to support case preparation.
• Support partners in pretrial work, including strategy development and case management.
• Provide research, counseling, and advice to employer clients on hiring, firing, and compensation issues.
• Offer guidance on wage and hour laws and PAGA (Private Attorneys General Act) matters, if applicable.
• Manage multiple assignments and tasks simultaneously, demonstrating effective time management skills.
• Communicate effectively with clients, colleagues, and diverse audiences at all levels.
• Demonstrate initiative, a strong willingness to learn, and sound judgment in all aspects of work.

Requirements:

• 2-5 years of litigation experience, with a strong focus on employment litigation.
• Experience with wage and hour/PAGA issues is a plus.
• Ability to handle discovery, prepare motions, and manage depositions.
• Excellent research skills and experience in drafting legal documents.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with diverse audiences.
• Organized, flexible, and capable of managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Demonstrated initiative and a strong willingness to learn and grow within the firm.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

• Admission to the State Bar of California.
