Job Overview
A respected law firm in Dallas is seeking a Transactional Attorney with two years of experience in the energy and oil & gas sectors. This role involves supporting a broad range of transactional matters, including the negotiation and drafting of agreements related to exploration, production, and infrastructure. The ideal candidate will bring foundational experience in energy law and a proactive approach to managing deal flow and client needs in a fast-paced industry.

Duties

  • Draft and negotiate various contracts including purchase and sale agreements, joint operating agreements, and lease documents
  • Conduct due diligence for mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures in the energy sector
  • Advise clients on legal issues relating to oil & gas operations, land use, and regulatory compliance
  • Support senior attorneys in structuring complex energy transactions
  • Coordinate with internal teams and outside stakeholders (e.g., engineers, landmen, government agencies)
  • Monitor developments in energy law and market trends impacting client transactions


Requirements

  • 2 years of legal experience with a focus on energy and oil & gas transactional matters
  • Familiarity with upstream and midstream energy sector operations and agreements
  • Licensed to practice law in Texas
  • Demonstrated experience handling transactional work in a law firm or in-house environment


Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school


Certifications

  • Active and in good standing with the Texas State Bar


Skills

  • Strong drafting and negotiation skills specific to the energy sector
  • Solid understanding of land titles, mineral rights, and contract structures in oil & gas
  • Effective communication and client advisory abilities
  • Detail-oriented and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously
