Public Agency Attorney

A prominent law firm is seeking an experienced Public Agency Attorney with a specialization in labor and employment law. This position requires a candidate who can provide expert legal counsel to public agencies, is capable of working independently, and is open to assisting with municipal law matters. Location

Duties

• Provide legal advice and counsel to public agencies on labor and employment matters.
• Prepare for and represent clients in arbitration, PERB, and other administrative hearings.
• Review and draft contracts and other legal documents.
• Provide general legal counsel to local government clients.
• Assist with other municipal law matters, including public contracting, governance, and records act responses.

Requirements

• Minimum of 9 years of experience in labor and employment law.
• Proven ability to analyze complex legal issues and communicate effectively.
• Ability to work independently while mentoring junior associates.
• Familiarity with CalPERS rules and benefits is highly preferred.

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Active membership in the California State Bar.

Skills

• Proficiency in legal research tools, including Westlaw.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
• Experience with public agency or municipal law is a plus.
