Job Overview

A highly respected law firm is seeking a mid-level associate to join its Employment, Labor & Workforce Management (ELWM) practice in Los Angeles. This role offers the opportunity to work on complex litigation and advisory matters involving federal and state employment laws. Ideal candidates will have at least two years of relevant experience, strong academic credentials, and a commitment to representing management-side clients in a wide array of labor and employment issues.

Duties

  • Manage and participate in litigation matters, including:

    • Interviewing witnesses

    • Reviewing electronically stored information (ESI)

    • Drafting pleadings, motions, and legal briefs

    • Conducting and defending depositions

    • Attending court appearances and interacting with clients and opposing counsel

  • Advise clients on employment-related matters including:

    • Wage and hour compliance

    • Risk mitigation

    • Employee relations and accommodations under the ADA

    • Employment agreements and workplace policies

    • Reductions-in-force and severance issues

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in labor and employment law

  • Proficiency in federal and California employment laws (e.g., FLSA, ADA, FMLA, ADEA, Title VII, CCPA, and related state statutes)

  • Litigation experience, including client counseling and court representation

  • Prior experience advising on workplace compliance and regulatory risk preferred

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

  • Strong academic performance required

Certifications

  • Admission to practice law in the state of California (required)

Skills

  • Excellent legal writing and analytical skills

  • Strong verbal communication and interpersonal abilities

  • Ability to handle complex employment issues independently and collaboratively

  • Familiarity with litigation tools and ESI review platforms is advantageous
