McLean office of a BCG Attorney Search Top Ranked Law Firm seeks intellectual property associate attorney with 4+ years of experience in the areas of patent application preparation and prosecution. The candidate will be working closely with various client teams on all aspects of U.S. and foreign prosecution and counseling. Will be developing and implementing patent filing strategies, conducting interviews with clients to obtain invention disclosures and independently preparing patent applications. Analyze Patent Office actions and prepare responses, conduct interviews with Patent Office examiners and other patent prosecution-related activity; as well as assist in formulating and preparing infringement and validity opinions and providing legal advice as needed. Support intellectual property licensing and other transactions, advise clients about contracts, and work on patent post-grant proceedings, while following the ethical requirements as set forth by the Firms professional liability insurer. Must have a USPTO registration, and be a member, or eligible to become a member, of the Bar association of the local office. Must have a technical understanding of neural networks and machine learning algorithms.

The candidate must have a Juris Doctorate degree (JD) from an accredited U.S. law school. Must be able to learn new technologies quickly, have a strong ability to write scientific and technical documents in clear, concise English, and effectively manage multiple matters simultaneously with various deadlines. Must possess the technical and analytical skills necessary to conduct complex and detailed analysis of patent-related matters, the interpersonal skills necessary to communicate with a diverse team of attorneys, staff, and clients and be able to provide information with courtesy and tact in person, electronically, and by phone.
