A law firm seeks a Senior Civil Rights Litigation Attorney with nine years of experience to enhance its litigation team in Edison, New Jersey. The ideal candidate will handle complex civil rights disputes from investigation through trial and appeal, partnering with clients, experts, and internal colleagues to achieve favorable outcomes.

Duties

• Manage all phases of civil rights litigation in federal and state courts
• Conduct thorough factual and legal investigations of alleged civil rights violations
• Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and appellate briefs
• Oversee and respond to discovery, including written requests and depositions
• Prepare witnesses, experts, and exhibits for hearings and trials
• Argue motions and participate in trial and appellate proceedings
• Advise clients on risk mitigation and compliance with constitutional and statutory requirements
• Collaborate with co-counsel, experts, and support staff to develop case strategy

Requirements

• 9 years of post-JD experience focused on civil rights or constitutional litigation
• Active admission to the New Jersey Bar (or eligibility for prompt admission)
• Demonstrated track record of managing high-stakes civil rights cases from inception through resolution
• Strong analytical, research, and writing abilities
• Exceptional oral advocacy and trial preparation skills
• Ability to juggle multiple matters and meet strict deadlines

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school

Certifications

• Active New Jersey Bar admission
