Washington office of a BCG Attorney Search Top Ranked Law Firm seeks a litigation associate attorney with 3 years of experience. The candidate will be independently managing and performing complex civil litigation and arbitration from client intake to closing files, as assigned. Working closely with partners and clients on cases and legal projects representing clients in a wide range of litigation needs. Attending, leading, and assisting in court appearances, oral arguments, and depositions. Communicating with clients with updates on case progress and actions. Conducting legal research on various areas of law, including but not limited to the UCC, common law, and federal legal and regulatory issues. Drafting memoranda, client letters, letters to counterparties, complaints, motions, and briefs. Drafting and responding to discovery interrogatories and document requests. Managing and handling filings and production during discovery. Case management and coordinating with legal secretaries and paralegals. Ensuring timely entry of time and billing details daily and in line with firm best practices. Coordinating and assisting in all aspects of litigation through trial and completion of the case. Over time, developing subject matter expertise in relevant areas of law to advise clients on pre-litigation issues. Assisting with marketing and business development projects. Assisting with marketing and business development projects. Must have experience managing discovery and knowledge of discovery rules and processes. Must have some experience with the Relativity platform or another e-discovery platform. Must have strong experience with electronic court filings (Pacer, ECF). Must have some experience with regulatory filings. Must have some experience with the Southern District of New York and its local rules.

The candidate should also be detail-oriented and have proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), Adobe Acrobat or a comparable PDF editing software, Worldox or a comparable document management system, and Attorney time and billing systems. Must have an advanced understanding of the civil court system and federal rules of civil procedure. Must have strong understanding of commercial law knowledge. Must have some knowledge of e-discovery. Must have excellent organizational and verbal and written communication skills. Must have well-developed and professional interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to interact and communicate effectively with clients and staff at all organizational levels of the firm. Must have a polished demeanor and positive attitude. Must have the ability to coordinate and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment. Must have the ability to take initiative and work both independently and in a team environment. Must be able to travel occasionally and be willing and able to obtain DC Bar membership, if they do not already have it. Should have some knowledge or experience handling litigation before the Federal Maritime Commission, Surface Transportation Board, or in federal courts on issues involving air, maritime, and rail transportation issues.
