Austin office of our client seeks associate attorney with 5 years of experience. The candidate will provide legal services to municipal clients through a law firm. Will practice in the field of Municipal Law to include the following areas of law: annexation; budget and fiscal management; economic development; elections and voting rights; ethics and professionalism; land use and development; law enforcement and municipal court; legislative consulting and advocacy; open meetings and open records; personnel and employment matters; procurement and construction projects; real estate transactions; utilities and telecommunications; water, wastewater and the environment. Advise municipal clientele (staff and elected officials). Draft municipal ordinances, resolutions, policies and procedure. Write and review contracts, leases, easements and deeds. Research matters of state and federal law, including statutes, administrative regulations, and case law, and preparing legal memoranda. Advocate clients interests before administrative and judicial bodies. Prosecute in municipal court. Must be licensed to practice law in Texas (in good standing). Background in State or Local Government is essential. Should have familiarity with Administrative Law.

The candidate should have strong research and writing skills. Exceptional oral communication skills, including ability to communicate effectively in small groups, before large audiences at public meetings, and in the courtroom are essential. Must have proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), and Lexis or Westlaw. Must be independent and self-motivating. Should be organized, dependable and steady. Capable of transitioning between numerous clients on multiple subjects daily. Must be innovative and resourceful problem-solver. Should be an excellent communicator (oral and written).
