Irvine office of a BCG Attorney Search Top Ranked Law Firm seeks senior life sciences patent agent with 7+ years of experience. The candidate will be responsible for preparing patent applications for filing with the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). Will be working with inventors to evaluate the underlying technology of inventions and proving providing technical consultation on projects. Preparing, filing, and prosecuting patent applications before the US Patent and Trademark Office, including development and conversion of prior provisional applications into utility applications and development of continuation and divisional application strategies. Applying advanced concepts in any life sciences field, with particular emphasis and/or expertise in molecular biology, cell biology, and/or biochemistry, to patent prosecution and landscape assessment matters. Prosecuting U.S. applications, including developing strategies for and preparing responses to Office Actions at USPTO. Instructing local counsel for foreign filings and Office Actions, including development of office action response strategies and ensuring consistency in such strategies across jurisdictions and patent families. Performing prior art searches and analyses, including patentability analyses, patent clearance assessments and other patent-related opinion projects. Preparing substantive client correspondence. Must have PhD in a life sciences field (preferably, molecular biology, cell biology, and/or biochemistry) from an accredited college or university. USPTO registration required. Advanced computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office essential.
The candidate must have exceptional written and oral communication skills. Ability to work well under pressure essential. Strong time-management skills are required.
