Portland office of a BCG Attorney Search Top Ranked Law Firm seeks patent prosecution associate attorney with a few years of experience in electrical engineering. The candidate will develop and hone patent drafting skills and ability to provide sound technical, legal, and business advice to clients. Will draft new patent applications, analyze invention disclosures, provide advice on patentability and patent strategy, and respond to examination reports from patent offices around the world. Will also have significant contact with inventors, work closely with law firm partners, and have the opportunity to assist patent litigation teams, collaborate on IP dispute matters, work on licensing deals, and assist corporate teams on IP aspects of business transactions. Will have exposure to strategic patent non-infringement, invalidity, and unenforceability analyses. An undergraduate degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, mechanical engineering, or optics is required. Experience in wireless communications, optics, or medical devices is a plus. Active membership in the Oregon State bar or ability to waive in is preferred.

The candidate must have a J.D. degree from an accredited university. Strong communication skills, including the ability to listen actively, think critically, and communicate complex concepts to multiple audiences through compelling written and oral advocacy are required. Good judgment, responsiveness, and perseverance is needed. Strong intellectual curiosity is essential. A commitment to client service and team success is a must.
