Job Overview: A law firm in Washington, DC is seeking a Life Sciences Intellectual Property Attorney to manage high-level and strategic aspects of multiple legal matters from inception to conclusion. This role requires a candidate who demonstrates a keen attention to detail, excellent interpersonal skills, and a strong interest in litigation. The attorney will be responsible for producing quality legal work, billing required hours, managing business, and adhering to the highest ethical standards.

Key Duties:

  • Handle and manage complex intellectual property legal matters related to life sciences, including immunology, genetics, molecular biology, and pharmaceuticals.
  • Oversee cases from inception through resolution, including drafting and filing legal documents, conducting research, and representing clients in legal proceedings.
  • Communicate effectively with attorneys, clients, and other stakeholders to provide updates and advice on case progress and legal strategies.
  • Produce high-quality legal work while meeting billing targets to ensure excellent client service.
  • Assist in business development efforts, both individually and as part of a team, to generate new business opportunities and expand the firm's client base.
  • Uphold the highest ethical standards of the legal profession in all aspects of practice.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Ph.D. or Master’s degree in a Life Sciences discipline is preferred.
  • Expertise in areas such as immunology, genetics, molecular biology, and/or pharmaceuticals is highly preferred.
  • Registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
  • Licensed to practice law in good standing in Washington, DC.
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience as a licensed attorney at a law firm, with 6+ years preferred.
  • Proven ability to work independently and effectively on complex legal matters.
