Sherman Oaks office of our client seeks a corporate generalist/general counsel with 10+ years of legal experience, preferably a combination of law firm training followed by in-house experience. The candidate will oversee an array of contracts and transactional matters; advertising and marketing compliance; risk assessment, litigation support, IP law (patents and trademarks); regulatory and compliance (corporate and product) and employment law. Will draft, negotiate, review and provide solution-oriented legal advice on a wide variety of commercial agreements across several business functions, including marketing agreements, IT/SaaS agreements, partnership agreements, supply chain/procurement agreements, hardware, consultant/professional services agreements and NDAs; work closely with cross-functional leaders to analyze and execute commercial deals. Provide legal support on all marketing efforts, including reviewing and approving marketing claims and assets across all platforms (e.g., television, email, social media, print, etc.). Review and support of all new customer-facing platforms for legal compliance, including related to disclosures, auto-renewal requirements, consents, and any other requirements. Provide legal support to influencer/talent acquisition team to help develop and execute influencer marketing efforts and creative campaigns; structure and draft influencer/talent agreements, negotiate with talent representatives (agents and lawyers), and provide day-to-day legal support. Oversee the companys trademark portfolio, providing trademark evaluations and recommendations, and overseeing the trademark registration process. Functions as the primary company contact regarding legal matters with customers, suppliers, and business partners as well as authorities or representatives of federal, State, or local government agencies including, the EPA, FTC, and FDA. Works closely with product development teams and strategic business unit managers to identify and secure protection of IP embodied in the technology work products. Review and approve packaging for all products. Assesses merits of court cases filed against the Company and recommends settlement of court cases when warranted. Responsible for the cost-effective management of outside counsel to ensure quality and value driven legal advice as well as assist outside counsel in matters of research, litigation, and pre-trial work. Prepares budget for Legal Department and manages the administration of the current budget. Experience working in a direct to consumer marketing company essential. Must have experience drafting and negotiating complex business transactions. Strong business instincts and financial acumen essential. Must be licensed to practice law and in good standing in California.

The candidate must have a Juris Doctor degree from a competitive law school. Should have success working in a high-performing, fast-paced, results-driven environment. Must have a strong desire to learn the business and proven ability to function integrally as part of a cross-departmental team. Superior intellect, with the ability to think critically and creatively and to make timely, clear, and well-reasoned decisions in complex situations essential. Must have excellent judgment, common sense, and interpersonal and communication skills. Unpretentious roll-up-the-sleeves personality essential. Must have emotional intelligence and awareness of the different personalities and sensibilities involved by stakeholders in business situations. Should have the ability to work closely and well with business leaders and employees at all levels of the organization. Should have excellent organizational skills, legal and business judgment, strategic thinking, and ability to manage multiple matters, with a willingness and curiosity to learn areas outside of expertise.
