Dickinson office of our client seeks attorney with 2+ years of prior experience working in civil practice. The candidate will represent clients in court or before government agencies. Will prepare and draft legal documents on behalf of clients. Advise clients on business and legal transactions. Negotiate settlements for legal disputes. Comply with all legal standards and regulations. Direct and oversee legal assistant. Must preferably have family law or criminal defense experience or interest. Must be licensed to practice in North Dakota, or the ability to become licensed within six months of hiring.

The candidate should have strong analytical and problem solving skills. Ability to build rapport with clients is essential. Ability to work independently is needed. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential. Must be reliable and versatile, with demonstrated expertise in an area of law in which the Senior Attorneys practice has allowed considerable experience. Work independently with no significant professional guidance, but is able to efficiently seek guidance, assistance, and input from all of the Firms attorneys. Collect fees in an amount equal or greater than own bonus budget (which will be provided by the firm) while providing value to the firm other than through collecting fees (including, but not limited to: projects for which the attorney may not be able to bill any or all of own time, updating forms, training, teaching, and/or mentoring other attorneys and staff on the areas of which said attorney is proficient). Must be able to counsel decision-making clients and may be the primary client contact. Be responsible for managing own files and/or a specific area(s) within the Firm. Should have earned and retain the respect, trust, and confidence of the Board of Directors, peers, and other employees of the Firm. Should be available as a resource other attorneys in the firm, including new associates; Assign work law clerks and associates, provided it does not interfere with other assignments. Network in the community to establish a strong professional reputation, and develop clients for the Firm. Make efforts to maintain current client relationships. Should have the judgment and maturity to handle most major problems/issues without supervision, and enhanced people/social skills in team problem-solving settings and client development/relations. Should have demonstrated a solid commitment to the law, to the Firm and to the community that will justify consideration for equity member status.
