Berkeley office of a BCG Attorney Search Top Ranked Law Firm seeks environmental attorney with 4-8 years of experience. The candidate will handle all aspects of state and federal administrative proceedings and federal and state court litigation. Will be responsible for calendaring all deadlines in assigned cases; preparing comment letters on proposed agency actions; preparing pleadings; conducting discovery for non-record review matters; overseeing the preparation of administrative records; and appearing before city departments, state agencies, and, in coordination with the partners, agency and court hearings, which will require occasional overnight travel once Covid-19 restrictions are lifted. Also, be responsible for handling individual legal research or investigation assignments on a case-by-case basis as requested by the partners. Must be comfortable with sharing and adjusting workloads and assignments on short notice in order to assure efficient handling by the firm of all matters on the docket. Be called on from time to time to assist with administrative matters, including office-related tasks, updates to the firm website, and production of documents. Must have admission to California Bar.

The candidate should have a JD degree. Must have exceptional legal writing, analytical, and oral advocacy skills. A demonstrated commitment to the public interest or environmental litigation is required. The capacity to work intensively, efficiently, and independently is required. The capacity to manage multiple proceedings is needed. Must have the capacity to work under pressure of deadlines and work overtime when necessary. Willingness to travel, including overnight trips, is required. The ability to understand and communicate complex legal and technical concepts is needed. Must have strong interpersonal skills.
