Business Immigration Counsel

Silver Spring office of a BCG Attorney Search Top Ranked Law Firm seeks a business immigration counsel with 10+ years of business immigration law experience. The candidate will be responsible for the team's leadership, vision, and culture. Performing high-level case management, legal research and writing, supervising associate attorneys, and reviewing the work of associate attorneys and paralegals with goals of ensuring high-quality, efficient management of all aspects of immigration files, overseeing deadlines and expiration dates, reviewing incoming documents, and handling/ escalating potential issues. Researching and analyzing the law on complex immigration issues. Synthesizing legal research and analysis into written memoranda or briefs, and performing casework as assigned. Analyzing and summarizing complex legal documents. Identifying potential immigration issues and developing strategies to address them. Conducting/ participating in client meetings and calls. Handling client relations issues as needed. Serving as an account manager with major corporate clients. Responding to client and FN inquiries. Informing partners and clients (employers and FNs) of important matters, e.g. case status, filing deadlines, I-94 issues, and travel considerations. Participating in attorney hiring and evaluation process. Devoting energy and resources to developing attorneys. Ensuring that attorneys draft, organize, and file immigration documentation in a thorough and timely manner. Reviewing attorney work product. Managing and supervising attorney work from start to finish. Devoting energy and resources to developing paralegals. Devoting energy and resources to developing efficient processes for the firm. Reviewing paralegal work product. Ensuring that paralegals draft, organize, and file immigration documentation in a thorough and timely manner. Making personal and firm-wide marketing efforts a priority.

The candidate must have a J.D. degree. Must have the ability to exercise independent judgment and decision-making and operate at a senior level and train and engage associate attorney and paralegal team. A thorough understanding of immigration law is required. Excellent organizational, writing, and other communication skills are needed. The ability to multi-task and meet deadlines is necessary. The ability to work well with clients and others and use forms databases and other computer programs is important.
