Job Overview: A well-established defense law firm in New Haven, CT, is seeking a dedicated Litigation or Workers' Compensation Attorney. This position offers both full-time and part-time opportunities, with the ideal candidate having experience in litigation, third-party subrogation, or workers’ compensation defense. The role involves managing a lower-than-average caseload, working with nationally recognized clients, and providing high-quality legal representation. Location:

  • New Haven, CT

Duties:

  • Represent clients in workers' compensation defense and third-party subrogation litigation.
  • Manage and prepare legal cases from inception through resolution.
  • Conduct legal research, draft legal documents, motions, and pleadings.
  • Attend hearings, trials, and court appearances as required.
  • Collaborate with clients, providing regular updates and legal counsel.
  • Maintain a low caseload, allowing for focused attention on each case.
  • Work with national and internationally recognized hospital systems, universities, and other self-insured employers.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in litigation, workers' compensation defense, or third-party subrogation.
  • Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities for client relations.
  • Ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously.
  • For part-time candidates: availability to cover hearings, court appearances, and work in the office at least 3 days per week for 5-6 hours per day.
  • Flexibility for occasional remote work may be considered.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active admission to the Connecticut State Bar.

Skills:

  • Strong legal research and writing skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with clients and team members.
  • Experience in managing workers' compensation and litigation cases.
