Property and Casualty Insurance Associate Attorney

A law firm in New York City is seeking a Property and Casualty Insurance Associate Attorney with 2-6 years of experience in insurance coverage and/or commercial litigation. The ideal candidate should have excellent academic credentials and demonstrated writing skills. Experience with insurance-related litigation/arbitration, complex business litigation, or commercial matters is a plus. Federal clerkship or New York Commercial Division clerkship experience is also advantageous. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are required, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a client-focused environment.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Handle property and casualty insurance-related litigation, including coverage disputes and arbitration.
• Manage complex business and commercial litigation matters, including drafting and arguing motions, and preparing for trials.
• Conduct thorough legal research and draft legal documents such as pleadings, motions, and briefs.
• Provide legal advice and counsel to clients on insurance coverage and commercial matters.
• Participate in settlement negotiations and alternative dispute resolution processes.
• Collaborate with other attorneys and support staff to ensure comprehensive case management.
• Stay current on relevant insurance laws, regulations, and industry trends.
• Maintain effective communication with clients, providing regular updates on case status and developments.
• Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and work effectively in a team-oriented environment.

Requirements

• 2-6 years of experience in insurance coverage and/or commercial litigation.
• Excellent academic credentials with a proven record of writing excellence.
• Experience with insurance-related litigation/arbitration or complex business litigation/commercial matters is a plus.
• Federal clerkship or New York Commercial Division clerkship experience is a plus.
• Must be admitted to practice in New York or New Jersey.

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Admission to the Bar in New York or New Jersey.
