Los Angeles office of our client seeks immigration associate attorney with experience. The candidate will handle a busy caseload that includes: family-based immigration matters, ranging from relative visa petitions to complex waivers and consular processing; special immigrant visas such as those available to survivors of trafficking, domestic violence, serious crimes and vulnerable children through Violence Against Women Act (VAWA), U visa, T visa, and Special Immigrant Juvenile laws; other special forms of relief including humanitarian visas, Parole in Place for family members of military service men and women, and Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA); removal defense specializing in representing detainees who suffer from mental health disabilities falling under the Franco v. Holder class action, and also concentrating on other detained and non-detained clients with claims for relief including Cancellation of Removal and Asylum/Withholding of Removal/Convention Against Torture; and, naturalization matters. Given the range of immigration practice areas, firm represents clients before all U.S. Department of Homeland Security agencies, the U.S. Department of State, and in U.S. Immigration Courts, as well as California State Probate and Family Courts in connection with Special Immigrant Juveniles in need of related assistance with guardianship and custody matters. Deal with third parties, including social service providers, medical providers and government officials. The attorney will be expected to meet with clients detained at the Adelanto Detention Center in Adelanto, California and provide representation before the Adelanto Immigration Court. Represent detained and non-detained class members before the Los Angeles Immigration Court. Must have active Bar license (California preferred). Experience working with immigrants as well as a fundamental knowledge of immigration law and court procedures is essential. Must be fluent in Spanish.

The candidate should have a Juris Doctorate degree. Must exhibit strong writing skills, excellent communication skills and client interviewing abilities as well as the ability to work under pressure.
