Sterling office of our client seeks attorney with preferably 1-2 years of experience. The candidate will join a client focused law firm serving individuals, families, and businesses locally and statewide in state and federal courts. Will be responsible for the initiation, maintenance, and litigation of client matters under the supervision of the firms principal and senior associates. Areas of practice include: criminal law, traffic, family law, tort, civil litigation, personal injury, wrongful death, real estate, bankruptcy, financial management and estate planning, and corporate formation. Serve in initial client consultation and case evaluation. Draft and edit case initiation and responsive pleadings necessary for ongoing client matters. Undertake legal research and draft legal memoranda for complex issues. Maintain communication with clients, courts, counsel, and witnesses. Oversee the discovery process, including requests, responses, and objections. Coordinate trial preparation with legal assistants, paralegals, and co-counsel when necessary. Appear in Virginia state and federal courts for hearings and trials. Actively market the comparative advantage of the firms services. Virginia State Bar member in good standing. Interest in civil litigation, including personal injury, domestic relations, contracts, and other business matters, and criminal litigation is essential.

Proficiency in legal research, including the LexisAdvance platform is needed. Proficiency with legal writing and drafting is essential. Effective verbal and written communication skills is needed. Ability to manage and schedule a diverse caseload and to meet hard internal and external deadlines. Ability to analyze complex legal issues in a collegial setting with fellow counsel. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, attorneys, co-workers, and other outside professionals. Demonstrated proactive approach to problem-solving with strong decision making capability.
