Patent Prosecution Associate Attorney

Salt Lake City office of a BCG Attorney Search Top Ranked Law Firm seeks patent prosecution associate attorney with 1-5 years of experience. The candidate will develop and hone own patent drafting skills and own ability to provide sound technical, legal, and business advice to the clients. Will draft new patent applications, analyze invention disclosures, provide advice on patentability and patent strategy, and respond to examination reports from patent offices around the world. Also have significant contact with inventors, work closely with law firm partners, and have the opportunity to assist the patent litigation teams, collaborate on IP dispute matters, work on licensing deals, and assist our corporate teams on IP aspects of business transactions. Have exposure to strategic patent non-infringement, invalidity, and unenforceability analyses. Must have an undergraduate degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, mechanical engineering, or optics. Experience in wireless communications, optics, or medical devices is a plus. Active membership in the Oregon State bar or ability to waive in preferred.

The candidate should have strong communication skills, including the ability to listen actively, think critically, and communicate complex concepts to multiple audiences through compelling written and oral advocacy. Must have good judgment, responsiveness, and perseverance. Should have strong intellectual curiosity. Should have JD degree from an accredited university.
