Job Overview:
A prominent law firm located in Chicago, IL, is partnering with a legal recruitment agency to expand its Energy & Infrastructure group. The firm is seeking a driven and detail-oriented tax associate with 3 to 6 years of experience in transactional tax matters. This role is centered around advising clients on the structuring and monetization of tax credits for renewable energy projects, including wind, solar, and other energy transition developments.

Duties:

  • Advise sponsors, developers, and investors on the structuring and financing of renewable energy assets

  • Assist in the negotiation and documentation of transactions involving tax equity and project finance structures

  • Conduct tax analysis related to energy transition initiatives and related transactions

  • Collaborate with project teams on the legal aspects of renewable energy development and financing

  • Stay current with federal tax developments and renewable energy tax credit frameworks

  • Support cross-disciplinary teams in delivering innovative legal strategies to clients

Requirements:

  • 3 to 6 years of law firm experience in transactional tax

  • Demonstrated interest or experience in renewable energy or infrastructure projects

  • Ability to communicate complex tax issues clearly to clients and team members

  • Strong attention to detail and project management skills

  • Admitted to practice in a U.S. jurisdiction and good standing

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited U.S. law school

Certifications:

  • Active membership in the Illinois State Bar (or eligibility for waiver/admission)

Skills:

  • Expertise in tax structuring for project finance or renewable energy transactions

  • Strong written and oral communication skills

  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment

  • Capable of working both independently and collaboratively
