Job Overview:

A prominent law firm located in Chicago, IL, seeks a skilled Associate Attorney to join its dynamic Energy, Environmental, and Infrastructure practice group. The ideal candidate will bring 3-7 years of specialized legal experience in complex energy and natural resources transactions, with an emphasis on renewable energy project development and commercial agreements. This role offers an exceptional opportunity to engage in high-caliber work within a nationally respected team.

Duties:

  • Handle sophisticated transactional matters in the energy and natural resources sector, including mergers and acquisitions, project development, and related commercial contracts.

  • Draft and negotiate agreements tied to renewable energy projects, such as Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), Operations and Maintenance Agreements, Shared Facilities Agreements, and procurement contracts.

  • Support transactions involving engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) agreements for renewable energy facilities.

  • Assist with financing transactions across the energy and infrastructure industries.

  • Provide advisory support in oil and gas sector matters when needed.

  • Collaborate closely with interdisciplinary teams across corporate, environmental, and infrastructure matters.

  • Manage multiple assignments and deadlines while maintaining high-quality client service standards.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3-7 years of relevant experience at a recognized law firm or equivalent environment.

  • Demonstrated experience managing complex energy transactions independently or with minimal supervision.

  • Familiarity with renewable energy project structures, joint ventures, and related commercial transactions.

  • Knowledge of construction-related agreements, particularly for renewable energy installations, is beneficial.

  • Exposure to financing structures related to energy projects is advantageous.

  • Prior involvement in oil and gas transactions is considered a plus.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active and good standing membership with the Illinois Bar or ability to obtain admission promptly.

Skills:

  • Strong drafting, negotiation, and organizational skills.

  • Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to balance multiple projects efficiently.
