Insurance Defense Associate

Job Overview:
A respected law firm is seeking an Insurance Defense Associate Attorney with 3–5 years of experience to join its Chicago office. This position offers the opportunity to handle complex insurance defense matters, including class actions, personal injury claims, environmental litigation, and property damage disputes. The role is ideal for a motivated attorney with a solid grasp of both state and federal civil procedure, and who can manage cases independently while also collaborating with a litigation team.

Location:

• Chicago, IL

Duties:

• Represent insurance carriers and their insureds in class actions, personal injury, environmental, and property damage claims

• Conduct legal research, draft motions, and prepare pleadings and discovery documents

• Develop case strategy and manage litigation matters from inception through resolution

• Attend depositions, court hearings, and mediations

• Collaborate with senior attorneys and clients on case developments

• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Illinois and Federal Rules of Civil Procedure

Requirements:

• 3–5 years of experience in insurance defense litigation

• Knowledge of Illinois and federal civil procedure

• Ability to handle matters independently and as part of a team

• Strong legal writing and analytical skills

• Trial experience preferred

• Admission to the Illinois Bar (required)

Education:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school with strong academic credentials

Certifications:

• Active license to practice law in the state of Illinois
