Ogletree Deakins, one of the largest labor and employment law firms representing management, announced the opening of a new office. The law firm now has an office in Portland, Maine, which is the firm’s 53rd office.

The new office’s managing shareholder will be Byrne Decker, who is joining them from Pierce Atwood. He brings with him Steven Silver and Scott Pomeroy, who will serve as associate and counsel in the new office. Pomeroy will be located out of the Boston office. Another member of the office working from Boston will be shareholder Dani Vanderzanden.

Managing shareholder Matt Keen said, “We are excited to officially enter the Portland, Maine market. Byrne is a veteran attorney who has practiced in Maine for many years. His extensive ERISA litigation experience will be a tremendous asset to our clients, and we are looking forward to his team joining our firm. We also look forward to the synergies between our Portland and Boston offices.”

The Portland office is Ogletree Deakins' first office in Maine and sixth in the Northeastern region. They also have offices in Boston, New York City, Philadelphia, Morristown, and Stamford.

Decker, an experienced ERISA and employee benefits litigator, focuses his work on life, health, and disability insurers. He earned his J.D. from the American University, Washington College of Law and his B.A. from Colby College. He said, “I am very excited to join Ogletree, with its national footprint. Transitioning my national ERISA litigation practice to Ogletree’s platform will allow me to serve clients even more effectively.”
