CMC Hires Sidley Austin As Counsel On $1.73 Billion Acquisition Deal

Sidley Austin has been hired by The Commercial Metals Company (CMC) to advice on a $1.73 billion acquisition deal by activist investor Carl Icahn. Carl Ichan wants to merge the Iving, Texas–based company with his own metals business. CMC has not only retained Sidley Austin, but also hired Goldman Sachs to advise the company on its options. Icahn employs a terrifying team of in-house counsel, which include former Winstron & Strawn corporate partner Daniel Ninivaggi.
