Perkins Coie adds 12 lawyers to its Chicago office
Seattle-based Perkins Coie added 12 lawyers to its Chicago office in September, including five from Wildman Harrold. Perkins Coie opened its Chicago office in 2002 and now has approximately 60 lawyers in that office. Chicago Sun-Times

Bullivant Houser Bailey merges with Bartel Eng & Schroder
Portland-based Bullivant Houser Bailey has merged with Sacramento corporate boutique Bartel Eng & Schroder. Bartel's 9 lawyers will join Bullivant's 11 Sacramento lawyers and 14 San Francisco lawyers to give the 180-lawyer firm 35 lawyers in California. The Recorder

Weil Gotshal & Manges requires pro bono work for all new attorneys
Weil Gotshal & Manges has instituted a pro bono policy requiring all new lawyers at the firm to take on at least one pro bono matter within their first two years at the firm. For all other U.S. lawyers, including partners, the firm has set a goal of 50 pro bono hours per year. New York Law Journal
