DLA Appoints New Middle East Head of Corporate
DLA Piper in Australia, as head of corporate for the firm's Middle East corporate team. Monk's practice focuses extensively on matters related to domestic and cross-border mergers and acquisitions, private equity transactions, and joint ventures. While with Minter, Monk assisted with the development of the firm's Asian offices and served on the international partner selection committee. "Our commitment to the region and to clients needs to be supported with strong capabilities within the corporate market, which is why [this] appointment is central to our long-term plans," Regional Managing Partner David Church said.

Sheppard Mullin Adds Labor and Employment Attorney to DC Office
Brian Z. Liss has joined the Washington, DC, labor and employment practice group at Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton, LLP. Liss, who joins as special counsel, most recently practiced with Morgan, Lewis & Bockius. His experience is extensive and ranges from litigating Title VII, ADA, and FMLA matters, among others, to representing clients in federal and state Department of Labor audits. "We are thrilled that Brian has elected to join us," said Ed Schiff, managing partner of the firm's Washington, DC, office. "He will be a great addition to our firm and to the Washington, DC, office as we continue to expand the labor and employment group on the East Coast."

Bryan Cave Opens San Francisco Outlet
St. Louis-based Bryan Cave, which currently has two offices in California, has announced that it will open a third California office in San Francisco. Of the six attorneys to open the firm — two partners, an of counsel, and three associates — four focus on litigation and two on corporate matters. "Northern California has been a key market, and it's key to our California practice," said Lynn McCreary, a former Kansas City partner who will now oversee the San Francisco office.
