Barnes & Thornburg LLP announced the addition of two partners to their firm: a Labor and Employment partner and a partner in the Intellectual Property Department. Amy Zdravecky will be a partner in their Labor and Employment Department in the Chicago and Grand Rapids offices. She joins from Miller Canfield. G. Peter Nichols will join the Chicago office’s Intellectual Property Department. He joins from Brinks Gilson & Lione. Other recent additions include Dawn Collins and Tae Kim in Los Angeles and Joseph Paquin in Chicago.

Chair Ken Yerkes of the Labor and Employment practice said, “We’re thrilled to welcome Amy to the firm. She brings significant new breadth and depth to our nationally recognized traditional labor expertise and, following recent additions in Los Angeles, is the latest example of our commitment to adding talent, not just members.”

Zdravecky has extensive experience before the National Labor Relations Board dealing with state and federal employment laws such as Title VII, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, the Family and Medical Leave Act, and the Fair Credit Reporting Act. She earned her J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School and her B.A. from the University of Michigan.

Grand Rapids managing partner Bob Sikkel added, “Amy is a fantastic asset to our local, regional and national labor and employment law practice. Grounded in years of experience, her counsel will be extremely valuable to management who are continually facing a variety of labor and employment challenges.”

Nichols will continue to focus his work on patent procurement strategies, patent portfolio management, U.S. and global utility and design patent applications, and cases before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. He advises clients from a range of industries, including mining, power tools, consumer electronics, household and consumer products, cosmetics, and nutritional supplements.

Chicago managing partner Mark Rust said, “Peter shares our collaborative values and commitment to providing quality, effective counsel. He is a fantastic addition to our Chicago office and will strengthen our IP bench in the region and nationally.”

Intellectual Property Department chair Julia Gard added, “Peter’s deep technical background gives him a unique vantage point and ability to genuinely understand our clients’ business needs and challenges. He’ll be a great addition to our group and will work diligently to protect our clients’ most valuable assets.”

Nichols earned his J.D. from DePaul University College of Law and his B.S. from the University of Minnesota in Chemical Engineering.
