Ogletree Deakins, one of the largest labor and employment law firms representing management, announced the addition of an experienced litigator to their team. Jeff Mayes has joined the firm’s Houston office as a shareholder. He joins from Alaniz and Schraeder.

Mayes will focus on employment law litigation. He has experience handling discrimination and harassment claims, Family and Medical Leave Act issues, Americans with Disabilities Act discrimination, Fair Labor Standards Act issues, trade secrets, and matters involving the Employee Retirement Income Security Act and wage and hour disputes.

Jeff Londa, the managing shareholder of Ogletree Deakins’ Houston office, said, “We are excited to bring Jeff into the Ogletree Deakins family. He has proven himself to be a tremendous litigator and attorney for his clients. His 21 years of experience, combined with Ogletree Deakins’ excellent client service offerings, will provide his clients with terrific service.”

Mayes also counsels clients and trains them on workplace matters related to discipline, hiring, termination, investigations, leaves of absence, and reasonable accommodation of disabilities, focusing on avoiding liability and preventing litigation. He has developed experience by negotiating union contracts, counseling and preparing clients for representation elections, counseling on grievances, and defending unfair labor practice charges before the National Labor Relations Board.

Mayes earned his B.A. from Texas A&M University and his J.D. from South Texas College of Law – Houston.
