Sidley Austin LLP welcomed a new attorney to their Washington D.C. office. Justin Savage will be a partner in their Environmental practice.

Co-leader David Buente of Sidley’s Environmental practice said, “Justin is a highly skilled lawyer who is nationally recognized for his litigation and trial advocacy work, including handling complicated government environmental investigations and litigation matters of all types. His legal knowledge and litigation skills will be of significant value to our clients.”

Savage will represent clients in energy, transportation, and manufacturing in addition to national trade associations through the U.S. Department of Justice and other agency investigations, citizen suits, enforcement actions, regulatory challenges, and more. He has a great deal of experience in the Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, and the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act.

He was working as a senior lawyer in the Environmental Enforcement Section of the Environmental and Natural Resources Division for the Department of Justice for nearly ten years. During that time, he litigated some of the largest environmental cases in our country’s history. He will use this experience to keep working with the same environmental statutes he dealt with at the DOJ such as the Clear Air Act and Clean Water Act.

Sidley Austin also recently added another Clean Air Act expert to their team, Rich Alonso will be a partner working alongside Savage in the same Environmental practice in Washington D.C.
