Summary: The Chicago office of Kirkland & Ellis will be adding a new partner to their Tax practice group starting October 3.

Tax Practice Group at Kirkland & Ellis Welcomes New Partner Kirkland & Ellis LLP is excited for the new addition to their Chicago Tax practice group. Roger Lucas will be joining the firm on October 3. He is leaving the Chicago office of Winston & Strawn LLP.

Chairman of Kirkland’s Global Management Executive Committee Jeffrey C. Hammes said, “Roger is a talented tax lawyer with a strong reputation for his work on private equity transactions. His experience representing Fortune 500 companies and private equity funds will bolster Kirkland’s top-tier tax practice, a vital component of our premier transactional offering.”

He will focus his practice on advising clients on complex transactions and financings, business formations, and executive compensations. He will also help private equity sponsors with the structure of investments in their funds.

A fellow partner in the firm’s Tax Practice Group in Chicago, Todd Maynes, said, “Roger is an exceptional tax lawyer. He speaks in plain English and knows how to explain complicated topics so that clients understand the consequences of their transactions. He will be a great asset to our team and our clients.”

Lucas earned his B.A. and J.D. from the University of Michigan and an LL.M. from New York University School of Law in taxation.
