Chair of Foley’s Health Care Practice Larry Vernaglia said, “Jill brings considerable health care knowledge across a wide spectrum of regulatory, compliance and fraud issues. Her OIG experience will help further prepare our clients for the complex and continually evolving regulatory landscape.”

Some of the experience Wright has developed comes from issues like the federal Anti-Kickback Statute and physician self-referral (Stark) law, false claims and overpayments, the civil monetary penalties law, government investigations, and exclusions from federal health care programs.

Wright has spent nearly ten years with HHS handling cases that involve CMPs and False Claims Act and appeals of exclusions from federal health care programs. In her position as senior counsel at OIG, she drafted the preamble of the Notice of Proposed Rulemaking for the OIG’s CMP authorities, including Affordable Care Act amendments to the CMP law and a restructuring of the OIG’s CMP regulations. Before her role at OIG, she was on HHS’s Departmental Appeals Board, advising administrative law judges in appeals from federal enforcement determinations regarding Medicare and Medicaid compliance and other federal health law enforcement.

Managing partner of the Washington D.C. office said, “We are thrilled to welcome Jill to our Washington office. Her arrival strengthens our distinguished bench of attorneys from key federal agencies who bring hands-on government experience to assist our clients and colleagues.”

Foley & Lardner has around 900 attorneys working from 20 offices.
