New York Perkins Coie Brings on New Partner

Perkins Coie in New York is building their Emerging Companies & Venture Capital (ECVC) practice with the addition of a new partner. Charles Torres, joining from Lowenstein Sandler LLP, will launch and lead the ECVC group in New York.

ECVC Co-chair Buddy Arnheim stated, “The emerging companies and startup community in New York has experienced remarkable growth over the last decade, and has fostered the creation of dozens of industry leading companies across a variety of key technology sectors. Torres has been a part of the New York City scene as a trusted advisor for emerging tech companies in all levels of development. He will focus on advising companies in formation, mergers and acquisitions, debt financings, minority and control investments, and portfolio dispositions. Through his experience in NYC, he opened the first big law firm office in Brooklyn, founded the Startup Center at Brooklyn’s growing Northside Festival, created the Emerging Company Workshop, started a lecture series where he teaches at Columbia Business School and the downtown Columbia StartupLab, created VCs on Skis, and helped found WomenInnovateMobile.
He earned his J.D. from the University of Chicago Law School and his B.A. from New York University. He is actively involved in the Association of the Bar of the City of New York and is a member of the Brooklyn Technology and Education Consortium.
