Latham & Watkins Elects New Global Leader

International law firm Latham & Watkins announced on Monday that London Partner Bill Voge has been elected to serve as the new Global Chair and Managing Partner of the law firm effective from January 1, 2015. Voge did his BS from California State University and received his JD from the University of California, Berkeley School of Law (Boalt Hall) in 1983. He joined Latham in the same year.

Over the years, Voge's practice focused primarily on project development and project financing related issues and he has handled numerous electricity and oil and gas projects in the United States and in other regions of the world. He represents project sponsors, underwriters and banks in complex, cross-border deals and is considered one of the leading large-scale project finance attorneys in the world.

Voge also has a strong track-record in pro bono services with focus on ending human trafficking. He co-leads the firm's work with Not For Sale, an international nonprofit where at least more than 100 attorneys of the firm's global offices are involved.

Commenting on Voge's election, Robert M.k Dell, the current Global Chair and Managing Partner of Latham & Watkins said, "Bill brings an impressive mix of experience and leadership qualities .... He is clear-sighted and a consensus-builder who is highly attuned to our unique culture, client service and the external market forces driving change in the legal profession."

Voge has been in a variety of leadership positions within the law firm over the last two decades. He was on the Executive Committee for two spells 1998-2002 and 2008-2012. He also served as the Global Co-Chair of the firm's Project Finance Practice from 2004 to 2007, and during 2007-2008 he served as Global Chair of the Finance Department of the law firm.

David Gordon, Vice Chair of Latham & Watkins said, "Bill was one of the first Latham lawyers on the ground in the firm's New York office when it opened in 1985, as well as one of the first lawyers present when the London office was opened in 1990 and his international practice accounts for a uniquely deep appreciation of our global platform and the global market forces impacting our clients."

On his part, Voge said, "It is a unique privilege to lead our great firm. I am profoundly honored to serve my partners in the service of our clients. I look forward to working with the deep bench of talented leaders spread around the globe..."
