Big law gets bigger as top firms start hiring

Big firms for better growth and to improve quality of work in recession time have started to hire lawyers. Big law firms of DC area, nine of the 10, have added lawyers, growing their local offices between 1 and 5 percent. From the end of 2010, the economy has taken a turn for the better and the law firms become more aggressive about hiring again. The firms hired in health care, financial services, antitrust, white-, and intellectual property litigation areas. Covington & Burling, the region's largest firm, reported the maximum growth, adding 25 attorneys- a 5 percent jump compared to last September. This year, the firms are planning to go back to pre-recession start dates for entry-level lawyers.
