The best law firm websites
Holland & Hart and Reed Smith topped the list of best U.S. law firm websites in a survey conducted by Internet Marketing Attorney. The websites of the top-250 firms were assessed randomly between June 2005 and April 2006. An average of 20 minutes was spent surfing each site. Based on design, content, usability, interactivity, and intangible qualities, a maximum of 10 points was awarded in each category. Holland & Hart topped the list with a score of 45, while Reed Smith followed with 44.

Miami welcomes Cozen O'Connor
Cozen O'Connor, a national leader in insurance litigation, is opening an office in Miami, its first in Florida and 23rd worldwide. The office will be staffed by three lateral commercial litigation partners—Rick Dunn, Sherril Colombo, and Christopher Brown—joining from the Miami office of Shook Hardy & Bacon. Apart from the existing insurance practice, the firm plans to add trusts and estates, real estate, banking, and corporate practices to the new office.

DLA Piper : Top of the heap
Philip F. Zeidman, a senior partner with DLA Piper Rudnick Gray Cary US, has been named global Franchise Lawyer of the Year at the Who's Who Legal Awards. Zeidman, who chairs the Franchise and Distribution practice in Washington, DC, devotes his practice to domestic franchising law and the rapidly growing field of international distribution, licensing, and franchising law. This is the second year in a row he has received the award for the year's best franchise attorney by Who's Who.

Additions at Proskauer Rose
Proskauer Rose has recruited two partners, Gregory I. Rasin and Elise M. Bloom, and a senior counsel, Steven D. Hurd, from labor and employment firm Jackson Lewis. They will join the firm's Labor and Employment Law Department, an internationally renowned practice, and will be based in Proskauer's New York office. The additions will add significant strength to the already existing employment and class-action litigation groups.

McGuire Woods introduces new partner
John H. Williamson has joined the Tysons Corner, VA, office of McGuire Woods, LLP, as a partner in the firm's Commercial Litigation Department. He served as a trial attorney in the Civil Division of the U.S. Department of Justice. Focusing on the areas of government contracts, bid protests, intellectual property, employment disputes, and contract administration matters, Williamson spent 12 years in private practice in Washington, DC, and London. McGuire Woods, LLP, is a full-service law firm comprising 750 lawyers in 15 offices in the United States, Europe, and Central Asia.

Experienced life sciences attorney joins Foley & Lardner
Foley & Lardner, LLP, announced the joining of Sven Riethmueller as a member of the Business Law Department, Life Sciences, and Emerging Technologies Industry Teams. Riethmueller's areas of focus will be international, venture capital, transactional and securities, life sciences, and emerging technology matters. Previously, Riethmueller was Vice President and General Counsel at LION bioscience AG, a publicly traded global solutions provider for the life sciences industry. He has extensive experience working with German and Swiss companies in the U.S. market.

Reed Smith's New York office has new partner
Aron Izower has joined the international law firm Reed Smith, LLP, as partner in Corporate & Securities Group. Residing in its New York office, Izower brings with him rich experience in capital markets, by representing issuers, underwriters, and purchasers in securities matters and corporate finance transactions. Most recently, he worked on U.S. offerings under Rule 144A, U.S registered public offerings of debt and equity securities, private equity sales, fund formation, exchange offers, restructurings, and SEC reporting documents.
