Steve Sonberg Elected to Serve as Managing Partner for Holland & Knight
Miami partner Steve Sonberg has been tapped to serve as managing partner for national law firm Holland & Knight. His five-year term begins on April 15. Sonberg's practice focuses extensively on corporate matters related to domestic and international mergers and acquisitions, as well as securities law. Sonberg, who has more than 30 years of legal experience, 15 as a partner with Holland & Knight, said, "Holland & Knight has a long, rich history. to Merge with Finland-based Fennica
The UK law firm of Bird & Bird has announced its intention to merge with Finland's Fennica Attorneys. After the merger takes effect on May 1, both firms will operate under the Bird & Bird name. This will represent the firm's second outlet in the Scandinavia region, after having opened a Stockholm office in 2001. "We see this merger as the latest step in our continued expansion into new markets. [It] gives us a very strong footprint in the Nordic region and provides an ideal platform to exploit the strong trading links between Sweden and Finland," said Bird & Bird chief executive David Kerr.
New Chief Named for Latham's Brussels Office
Latham & Watkins, LLP, has appointed competition partner Howard Rosenblatt to the position of managing partner for the firm's Brussels outlet. He will replace Andreas Weitbrecht. Throughout the course of his career, Rosenblatt has accumulated more than 20 years of experience in the antitrust arena, having represented clients in merger clearances, cartel investigations, and alleged abuses of dominance cases. Rosenblatt "brings strong leadership skills to the position and a formidable reputation before the competition bar, and he will serve with great distinction in his new role," said Robert M. Dell, chairman and managing partner of Latham & Watkins.
