Cadwalader Partner Moves to Howrey
Gregory C. Ballard, a New York litigating partner for Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft, has jumped to Howrey. He was previously at Davis, Polk & Wardwell and made partner at Cadwalader in 2005.
Fishman Pleads Guilty
Samuel A. Fishman, a former partner at Latham & Watkins, has pled guilty to defrauding clients and his firm by charging more than $300,000 in personal or false expenses. Fishman was a partner at Latham in the mergers and acquisitions department and left the firm in 2005 when the irregularities were discovered. Latham immediately reported the fraud to the authorities and has reimbursed the defrauded clients in full. Fishman faces up to 20 years in prison and likely disbarment.
Four Partners Leave McDermott for Goodwin
Goodwin Procter, a Boston firm, has talked four leveraged-finance partners in Los Angeles into jumping ship from McDermott, Will & Emery. Eric R. Reimer, Elliot D. Hinds, Q. Scott Kaye, and Marc A. Jones have joined Goodwin. Goodwin has been aggressively increasing its representation on the West Coast in recent years, and this is another move on its part.
