Martin Lueck Inducted as Fellow of the IATL
Martin R. Lueck, chairman of the executive board at Robins, Kaplan, Miller & Ciresi, LLP, has been inducted as a fellow of the International Academy of Trial Lawyers (IATL). With only 500 fellows from the United States allowed by the academy, this is a signal honor. Lueck is a trial lawyer with a focus in commercial litigation, patent, antitrust, and competition law. He's also a fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers.

Skadden Pledges $9.6 Million to Increase Diversity in Law
Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom has pledged $9.6 million to help "redress a persistent lack of diversity" in the legal profession. Skadden is committing this sum over a 10-year period to an honors program designed to encourage and support minority students at the City College of New York. The new gift will grant financial assistance based on need and merit, LSAT preparation, mentoring by Skadden lawyers, and paid internships at firms nationwide, among other things. Senior Partner Joseph H. Flom attended the City College of New York for his degree.

Woodcock Washburn Introduces Patent Law Scholarship
Woodcock Washburn, LLP, has established a patent law scholarship at Seattle Law School. The scholarship will be awarded in June 2008 and will be a sum of $5,000 for costs for the 2008-2009 academic year. To be eligible applicants should be at least half-time students with a well-developed interest and track record in patent law and must be eligible to sit for the patent bar examination. Woodcock Washburn, LLP, is a firm that focuses on intellectual property issues.
