March 11, 2013 - Pasadena, California - Hiring in the legal sector rebounded slightly in February compared to the major drop-off in January according to the latest jobs report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
The report says that the industry added only 200 net jobs. Compared to a year ago, the industry still employs 5,000 more people. The total number of employees in the legal sector now stands at around 1.125 million. This figure is still 50,000 employees short of the pre-recession peak in 2007.
A recent article in the Am Law Daily even states that the legal industry is contracting. Data from BCG Attorney Search however shows that there are still a high number of attorney job openings. The legal recruiter is working on filling 3,213 attorney job openings.
