Orange County office seeks patent agent having 2-5 years of prior paralegal experience. The candidate will assist clients in proceedings before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (PTO), and provide scientific depth and technical analysis of prior art in Electrical Engineering patent litigation and/or Computer Engineering. Will prepare and prosecute patent applications, including drawings and experimental protocols. Prepare and prosecute reexamination requests. Intellectual Property Diligence for Mergers and Acquisitions, as well as venture investments. Technical document review. Identify and review prior art. Draft Office Action Responses. Work directly with scientists and attorneys. Stay current with local court rules and rules/regulations applicable to specialty or specific discipline. Perform various administrative tasks as required. Perform other related duties as assigned. Must have a B.S. or M.S. degree in Electrical Engineering (EE) or Computer Engineering with preference for Electrical Engineering degree. Advanced degree is a plus. Paralegal Certificate is a plus. A strong technical background is required. Specialized knowledge or focus in specific areas of Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering may be particularly valued. A strong knowledge of the developments and evolution of specific technical areas, for example: computer games, mobile games, artificial intelligence, deep learning, big data, online search methods, mobile communications, applications (APPs) for cell phones and internet infrastructure is required. Must be a registered Patent Agent, U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
