Washington, D.C. office of our client seeks international trade attorney with 2-4 years of experience. The candidate should have experience in private practice, industry and/or government regarding legal, compliance, investigations, and enforcement issues arising under International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), the Export Administration Regulations (EAR), sanctions administered by the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), U.S. anti-boycott laws, and the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA). Must have experience with export controls and sanctions compliance best practices, including internal compliance policies and procedures, transaction screening, commodity jurisdiction, commodity classification, licensing, training, and auditing. Experience of conducting and managing internal investigations and drafting voluntary disclosures to the relevant government enforcement authorities are essential. Experience of responding to government inquiries, administrative and criminal subpoenas, and other forms of government investigations are needed. Experience of export controls, sanctions and anti-corruption compliance issues including in the context of due diligence in mergers and acquisitions, as well as day-to-day business transactions is needed. Working experience with company in-house counsel, and business personnel in connection with the activities above; and familiarity with the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and U.S. anti-boycott laws and regulations is strongly preferred.
